Nom du directeur ou de la directrice : Clinton Preeper With the help of the great Dr. Seuss books, “Oh, the places you’ll go!”, “Green Eggs and Ham” and “The Lorax” let me tell you why we need books for our school library.
I am the librarian. I speak for the children.
Our books are old and falling apart. The children need something new to keep them all smart.
Just like the Lorax we leave you with one word…. “UNLESS”.
Now that you’re here, the word of the Lorax seems perfectly clear. UNLESS someone like you cares a
whole awful lot, nothing is going to get better. It’s not.
With the new books the children could read them in a boat.
And they would read them with a goat.
And they will read them in the rain (with an umbrella of course).
And in the dark.
And on a train.
And in a car.
And in a tree.
They are so good, so good, you see!
So they will read them in a box.
And they will read them with a fox.
And they will read them in a house.
And they will read them with a mouse.
And they will read them here and there.
Say! They will read them ANYWHERE!
Books will take the children on new adventures and new journeys.
They’ll be on their way up! They’ll be seeing great sights! They’ll join the high fliers who soar to high heights. Oh! The places they’ll go with new books to guide them there.
McKee students are a wonderful group of individuals who all love to read. From kindergarten to Grade 6 the levels of reading and interest varies and our library should reflect that. The library needs an infusion of new and updated books. Information and trends are constantly changing and it is hard for school libraries to keep up with them. Two of our main priorities for the students at Mckee are that all students demonstrate growth in reading and writing by at least one year through high quality instruction and daily reading incorporated into lesson plans. This goal will be easier and more enjoyable to accomplish if the school has resources that the students would like to read. In the words of Dr. Seuss, “The more that you read, the more things you will know. The more that you learn, the more places you’ll go.”
