Nom du directeur ou de la directrice : Lorraine Doran Our school just turned 50 years old! We are a holding school for new homes north of Green Lane and our school population has jumped from 270 to 330 just this year .We are expecting more growth next year as well. We will have 2 additional primary classes in the fall so our resources will be stretched even thinner! Along with many new students we are also experiencing a large increase in ELL learners so we must work to acquire more dual language books so everyone can read. Our students love to read and our most popular books wear out after a year of use .We would love to be part of the adopt a school program as it helps us to purcahse more books for our students and keeps them reading.

My mom had the most influence on my love of reading. When we were small we always had lots of books around. We read lots of stories together and my sisters read to me too. Then my mom would take us to the library every week where we brought home bags of books and we would all sit on the couch ...
I remember distinctly the day I started grade One and I learned to read two words. I went home for lunch and stated to my mother that now I was a reader and that I would have to buy books. My parents had always read books to us kids but I felt an incredible power in the knowledge that I could ...
I would have to say my parents helped me to fall in love with reading. No matter how busy they were or where we were, we came together before bed to read a story. It was always a special time for us as a family. Some of the happiest memories I have are sitting on the white sofa in the grown ups ...
I am supporting this school because as a parent I know how important rewarding is to childs success at school. This school needs good books in its library to support these kids. School library budgets are never large enought to cover all the needs of the school.
I'd like to share a few thoughts about why reading is important to me. As I was growing up, my life had many disruptions. My parents divorced, we moved often and home life was sometimes difficult. I found reading an excellent way to fill 'empty time'. For example, when I had to wait for a ...
I am new to Meadowbrook Public School and it has been the most welcoming school! Everyone has been so kind, friendly and helpful! It feels super to work with such amazing teachers and administrators! The students are awesome! I’m looking forward to a fantastic year of learning together!
It is a great challenge to pick one book as many books had an impact at different times and for different reasons. I think The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe series of books by CS Lewis comes to mind first, though. When my children were young (they are both young adults now), we used to read ...
Reading is my escape and my favourite thing to do to help me relax. It allows me to travel to far off places and worlds that I could other wise never experience.
Reading is so important to me for several reasons. First of all it is an excellent way to relax and go on an adventure! Books take me places I have never been before and allow me to experience new thoughts and ideas. Books help me to learn new things and keep on learning! When I read I am able ...
