Nom du directeur ou de la directrice : Ann Copp Seymour Heights is a wonderful learning community with layers of complexity. Unfortunately, the library, which is the most important area of the school for literacy and community is located poorly at the very end of a long narrow hallway. Our goal is to beautify the library while still being able to fill its shelves with updated, engaging and meaningful books for our students. We want the library to be the center of our learning community with students wanting to come and spend time surrounded by books that they love!
The student population is very diverse. At Seymour Heights, our school plan focuses on Honouring Diversity. Seymour Heights has a very high population of complex learners all whom benefit greatly from the library and its resources. The library at Seymour Heights is in need of updated resources and leveled books to support our diverse population of learners. Students with learning challenges deserve to have current books at their level to support literacy development. Our wish is that there are numerous intriguing and engaging books for ALL students to be able to choose when visiting the library at Seymour Heights.
As well, our library is in need of significant beautification and updates – getting financial support from Indigo’s adopt-a-school would be an amazing way for Seymour Heights to focus its funding on these areas, while being able to fill the shelves with exciting, current new books for all of the students to enjoy.
We are very grateful for our community partners and look forward to the opportunity to work with Indigo to create a better, more diverse, more engaging community library for our students.
