Nom du directeur ou de la directrice : Carleen Andrews We have a growing population at our inner city school. We have an increasing ESL population so easy reading books are a necessity. WE also have pre-school classes in our school and they come to the library weekly for book exchanges. Although they are not in our number of students that attend K-6, that are using our facility (an extra 20 students). We also encourage our families with children 0-5 to come and check out books. Overall, our reading scores are below the district average and we are trying to increase fluency and comprehension. We do an open daily exchange time of 30 minutes/day and each class has one library block in addition. We do reading contests and are trying whatever we can to increase the "love of reading" in our students

Livres préférés Our students love any kind of book but their favourite type of books are:
1) Graphic novels - to include Bone, Captain Underpants, Adventure Time, Garfield, Minecraft, Super Hero
2) LEGO books - including non-fiction, easy readers, and chapter books
3) Survival books - to include: I Survive, Avalanche, Choose Your Own Adventures
4) Mysteries - choose your own adventures,
5) Picture books - Pete the Cat, Franklin, Elephant and Piggy Series, hockey themed, Robert Munsch, levelled books

Our students love pets books, both in novels and non-fiction. It is hard to say what our top five favourite books would be as our kids LOVE TO READ!
