Nom du directeur ou de la directrice : Christine Traynor Bobby Orr P.S. is an amalgamation of two older schools in south Oshawa. When the school first opened, books from both libraries were combined for our library. The average age of books in the library is over 25 years old. Of the over 16,000 items in our collection, just over 2,000 of them have been purchased in the last 10 years. Our greatest area of need is in the upper grades (grades 5-8). Both fiction and non-fiction books are very dated and worn. Students in these grades feel that there isn't much selection of books to check out from the school library. Unlike some schools, we don't have active fundraising to supplement these resources. With new books, we hope to foster a love of reading for our older students that will help them prepare for success in high school and beyond. Our school truly is a neighbourhood school that serves approximately 220 students, most of whom walk to school. There are four special education classes in the school; a practical learning class , two developmental classes and a school support class. Approximately 30% of our regular school population is identified with special learning needs and receive additional support from our special education resource teachers.
