Nom du directeur ou de la directrice : Albert Johnson We are a tiny population that serves a largely migrant military population near an airforce base. Students here have often been moved many times before they reach grade 3 and as such they struggle learning to read and in core subjects without any continuity. Our school district funds schools based on a per student ratio and this makes it extremely difficult to stock a full library. Our tiny yearly budget means we cannot order more than a handful of books every year. Add to this the fact that graphic novels, comics, and easier readers are often more expensive and difficult to source than other books. We try to stretch our budget by buying second-hand, but this means that we don't get the rich, high quality materials that our students need to thrive. Our student population often come from single parent and low income families. All local public libraries are more than 5 kilometres away. This means that students' access to reading materials in the home can be a struggle. Many students are dependent on the school for literacy support and engagement.

Livres préférés Our students love to read graphic novels, comics, and picture books. The following books came out highest in student interest:
Diary of a Wimpy Kid series
Smile, by Raina Telgemeier
Mo Willems Books
The Lego Book
Guinness Book of World Records (any year)
Garfield Books
Captain Underpants series
Dog Days series
Erin Hunter Books (Seekers, Warriors, Survivors)
