John Caboto Academy

Montreal, Québec 214 / 180 livres donnés

Nom du directeur ou de la directrice : Lucy Buscemi The 2018 - 2019 school year marks the second year that our school offers a full day Pre-Kindergarten as well as two closed classes (special needs). We would like to provide age and level appropriate books for these new students. Furthermore, the older students’ interests are evolving rapidly and we would like to update our library to reflect these new interests. Each classroom has a mini library however most of these books are in dire need of being replaced due their condition.

We want to enrich our library with books that provide the students with a deeper understanding of the different challenges facing children today. In keeping with our leadership program, many of the students take turns helping out in the closed classes and often come out with a deeper sense of compassion and empathy accompanied by many questions.

Literacy in both English and French is one of the main focuses in our school’s curriculum. Being able to provide the teachers with better tools would greatly help the students to achieve their reading goals and even more importantly, to get excited about reading!
