Margaret Ma Murray Community SchoolFort St. John, Colombie-Britannique 363 / 340 livres donnés
Nom du directeur ou de la directrice : Kathy Scheck We are a brand new school set to open in September 2018. The district has provided a budget and we are working to get a great collection for the students in the school. It is imperative for our population to have a library that has enough books for everyone to enjoy. Currently we have around 6000 titles. A school library in Fort St. John has an average of 15000 titles. We need your help to continue to build our library to achieve this goal. Many of our students are new to Canada so we need lots of books to support their English Language development. Any funds generated through Indigo Love of Books Reading foundation will go directly to increasing our collection. Through this program, schools also receive 30% discount on all books. That means $100 worth of books costs the school $70. If we can raise $1000 that means we have $1300 to spend on books. All donations are greatly appreciated.

My parents helped me fall in love with reading. Both of my parents are avid readers and have modelled a love of reading my whole life. Before my sister and I were readers, my mom would read us books and even record herself reading novels for us to listen to. We had records with story books and ...
When I was a little girl in the 1960's my second grade teacher called my mom in for a talk about my reading. Being a struggling divorcee, my mom didn't have two nickels to rub together, but I still remember that day when she took me to a second hand store and said that I could pick out one ...
As the principal of MMMCS, I want our library to be a vibrant space full of books that students want to read and are requesting that we purchase. We have a new collection as we are a brand new school but it is a small collection. I want to make sure that we have books that all students will ...

All kids should have access to great books to read.
A good friend of mine gave me the book - I'll Love You Forever by Robert Munsch- when my children were young. It remains one of my favorite stories to this day. As my mother ages, I see how relevant the story really is and how roles change.
Reading is important because it builds your imagination. It’s relaxing before bedtime and helps you grow and learn new things.
I loved reading the Nancy Drew series. This series made reading important for me and it helped build fluency in my reading. Two recent books that have impacted my life are: School's First Day of School - this was given to me by a good friend for my new position as a principal of MMMCS - it ...
The story that had the biggest impact on my life is the story Love You Forever by Robert Munsch. We read this book all of the time when my kids were little. When their father died, I gave them each a copy of the story so that they had the book to help comfort them.
My local public librarian helped me fall in love with reading and books. She did this by helping me find books that matched my reading and interest level. I went to a private school and we have a very small, old library. I walked home every day and went by the public library. I read every ...
