St Pius would greatly benefit from new books because of the size of our small community. Being a school with a small population requires a lot of effort to really get parents involved and to reach funds that allow for purchases that can benefit every age group.
Next year our school will be reaching numbers of 340 for enrolment and it would be fantastic to offer our young readers more variety and inventory that reaches all ages appropriately.

My mother was primarily responsible for my love of reading. She read to me each day when I was little. Both my parents were readers. I remember wistfully watching my father read, eager to learn that skill. It was a special “code” I needed to crack. And once I cracked that code a new world ...
Paying it forward in memory of Rick Joyal, an avid reader, who believed in lifelong learning and the value of a good education from an early age. - Joyal Education Fund
Within those walls I developed a lifelong love of reading and learning! I am grateful for the fabulous teachers I had in the 1960s and 70s!
I was helping Miss Russell unpack a box full of the first new books our small one room country school had ever received. I remember the the fragrance of the new books. It was heavenly. I looked in the box and saw a dust cover with a black horse and asked my teacher what it was about. She ...
I hope we win!
My twin daughters went to this school and now one of my grandkids is going to the same school. I've passed my love of reading onto my children and it's wonderful seeing how the grandkids love to read too. St. Pius X is a great school but it would be nice to help boost the number of books ...
Growing up I wasn't the best reader. I read at home with my parents, but when it came to reading at school to the teacher or reading out loud to the entire class, I was absolutely frightened. I always tried to hide or not make eye contact with the teacher, so that I wouldn't get called upon to ...
There are so many books that I love and being a kindergarten teacher I feel it is so important to build this positive relationship with reading at a young age. Finding ways to relate a story to my students real life and making connections through books not only makes a child feel less alone, ...
Great program for the school and glad we are part of it.
So happy to be supporting the St. Pius X School community! Read on, Panthers!
Great story! I wish you luck in this contest.
With how big the school has grown we need more books for sure
Nancy Drew! My appetite for mysteries was voracious when I was ten years old; and whilst I should have been sleeping, the street lamps outside our bedroom window illuminated my pages just enough to read the clues that Nancy uncovered... My childhood friend. She had the most extensive ...
My child just started at St. Pius this year and so it only makes sense that I would support the school that will be teaching my child to read. Our family loves to read and my child is so excited to learn how to read by herself and I want to make sure there are lots of books in the library to ...
I have always liked reading, as a child and then later into adulthood. I liked how reading helped me pass time, distracted me from the day to day chaos, and most importantly what it taught me. I did not fall in love with reading until I became a Mother. In our house bedtime was story time and ...

I have two granddaughters that attend this school and I know how much they love books! When they come for a visit (even from a very young age) picking books and reading together has been a favorite activity! So much so that they could tell me the story before knowing how to read the words ...
By volunteering at St. Pius, I work with the wonderful children and staff on a weekly basis. There is a great need for more books in the library especially with the additional children attending this school year. Reading is important and by having a var
A child who reads will be an adult who thinks!
Reading is important to me because it expands my mindset and worldview. I would not be the person I am today without books! Reading helps me to be a better parent, spouse and friend by opening my eyes to new concepts and ideas I may not have come across without opening a book. I have added ...
