Nom du directeur ou de la directrice : Deborah Falcao-Linton Books are a kid’s best friend! They foster imagination, creativity and innovation. Books take people to places where they can lose themselves, places they can dream of.

As kids move more and more to electronics it’s important to make sure that that we do everything we can to have our kids know the feeling of a book in their hands, the anticipation of flipping the pages. The smell of a new book.

The average age of our library books is about 7-9 years old. Speaking as a parent of two Kingswood students, there has been more than one occasion that my girls have come home with an extremely loved book.

As a member of the School Council at Kingswood for the past four years, I can speak to what the Council has done with school support to enhance our library in any way possible. Depending on the funds we raise, we try to give money to the library every year. In addition, we honour each departing staff member with a book dedicated to them that, once they’ve had a chance to read it, will be placed in our library for them. In June 2018, we held a bookswap event to ensure that kids will have books to help them carry on their reading adventures through the summer to continue developing their love of reading. For every book a child brought to school, they earned a "ticket". On the day of the bookswap, they swapped those "tickets" for books available at the event. We also thought that this initiative may have helped to improve our school library resources.

As you now know, the school is actively trying to improve our library in as many ways as possible for our kids. In addition to all of these efforts, this year Kingswood introduced a French immersion program. There’s always something going on at Kingswood!

Thank you in advance for your consideration. We would really love to hear from you!
