Nom du directeur ou de la directrice : Chris Hunter Many of our books and library resources at Parkland Elementary have shown wear and tear due to age and use. A limited budget and limited financial resources have made it challenging to keep up with the needs and literary interests of our young readers; many of our books are now on average 10-20 years old. Our goal is to renovate and refresh the entire library space over the next 3 years as the space itself hasn't been renovated since the school opened over 40 years ago. We aim to make our library a more welcoming, engaging, and vibrant space for our learners with a larger selection of books to cozy up with for reading time at school and at home. We are very grateful to be participating in the Adopt a School program to help us reach our literacy goals in supporting young readers!

The children's book(s) that had the biggest impact on me as a child were the Ramona series by the Newbury Award winning author Beverly Cleary. These books were probably some of the first "chapter books" I became hooked on and I always looked forward to finding the next book of the series in ...
My mother helped me fall in love with reading. As a young child, she would read Winnie the Pooh to me every night- even before I was able to read on my own. I distinctly remember how excited I was once I was able to read the words myself. I felt like I had unlocked a secret world for myself. ...
