Nom du directeur ou de la directrice : Trevor Layden At Huntington Hills, we strive on developing children's reading abilities. With a solid foundation of being able to read, a person can succeed at anything. We have many programs that run year round at the school in order to encourage the development of each child's reading skills. This year, Grade 1 students partner up with grade 4/5 students for reading buddies where the older children read with the younger ones. Kindergarten's reading buddies are the Grade 5/6 students this year. There are also times when all of the children in the school buddy up for reading to one another at the same time, you can just imagine how many books are being used at that time and the glory of seeing so many reading simultaneously. There are also parents/grandparents volunteers who come in weekly to help with reading, with children who need that extra encouragement. There is also a home reading program where each child is to take a book home at night and read to their family and keep track of their reading minutes. With so many programs going on year round, it takes many, many books in order for the programs to be successful. This is where you can help. Please ensure that we have enough books so that each child can keep developing their reading skills and to continue to build a solid foundation for themselves.
