Lord Lansdowne P.S.

Toronto, Ontario 237 / 436 livres donnés

Nom du directeur ou de la directrice : J. Eric Szonyi Lord Lansdowne is reflective of the schism of income and educational background of the downtown core of Toronto. As a result, there are children from extreme ends of the spectrum in terms of resources and advantages at home. There is a large population of new Canadians - many for whom English is not a first language. There is a wide range of ages, abilities, language skills and backgrounds. As well, the library serves da Vinci Alternative Public School, which emphasizes a wholistic approach to learning, based on the principles of Waldorf teaching and learning. The library is not currently representative of the school's population and there is a specific need for more dual language books, as well as first language books.

The school also has a rapidly growing French immersion program, which is doubling each year. As a result, the library is in need of more French language books.

Finally, the school places great importance on encouraging and teaching social justice, human rights, anti-bullying, and volunteerism. The library requires additional books to emphasize the school's focus on these programs and values.
