Plowman's Park Public School

Mississauga, Ontario 167 / 300 livres donnés

Nom du directeur ou de la directrice : Sabina Freemantle Our school was built in 1981 and many of our books our outdated and overused. 80% of the students we service in our school are newcomers to Canada or live in subsidized housing. Many of the families cannot afford to buy books for their children or get to the public library. The families rely on the school library to be the resource they can rely on. We have tried to have a wide selection of books for the students to borrow, but our budget is low for the needs of our demographic. We have seen our students blossom with their love for reading program, especially since we have a large ESL population and four Special Education classes (2 Kindergarten Transition Language Classes, a Primary Communication Class, and a Junior Communication Class). We see the children grow in all aspects of their lives and it enhances the lives of their whole family. We hope that if more relevant books are available to the students, it will enrich the lives of the whole community of Plowman's Park Public School. Unfortunately, because of the demographics of our community we are unable to fundraise monies/donations for our school.
