When I was a little girl I had the great honor of being raised by an amazing mom whose love of reading fueled her entire career as a kindergarten and grade one teacher. I learned the love of words through story right from the time I was born through to now sharing this love of reading with my own children. Getting lost in the adventure of a book is a great way to unwind after a long day and I want to ensure that my children have this healthy escape from some of the real world pressures. I also want to make sure that their classmates do too.
Even though my mom has since retired her love of a school library continues to this day. She volunteers in her community school to ensure the library is kept organized with new books properly catalogued and comfortable reading spaces provided for all ages. She is a huge proponent of LLI and volunteers with those kids struggling with reading.
In honor of her let's ensure we support our schools libraries!
