When I was in elementary school,I remember reading Harriet the Spy. Thinking I would be an excellent spy,I created my own "slam book" which I hid in my mothers' linen closet under our towels. This was an excellent spot. Located just outside my bedroom it offered easy access and ,since my older brother was in his grimy phase, there was little chance of his finding my spy notes among the soap and towels!I outgrew my idea of becoming a spy but never outgrew my love of books. I read over 50 this past summer but alas, summer ended and I had to return to work and reality.
